Dessert then Dinner

Workout:

Lame-o spin teacher didn’t show up.  Nobody messes with my morning class schedule, he will pay.

90 minutes total elliptical and stair master intervals.

Time flew by with the December Issue of Food Network.  That is how you know you are a foodie.  People buy you food magazine subscriptions as presents.

School was awesome.  At about noon they made an announcement that we would be getting out at 12:45 due to the biggest blizzard in ten years passing through the area.  Yeah, we got about 1/4 of an inch and it didn’t even stick to the streets.

Reason #3543 to live near your parents……My mom called me and wanted to meet at Nordstroms to shop and then go to Cold Stone for dessert.  Um, yes.  Lets just say it was a successful shopping trip.

Kiddie size strawberry sorbet with gummy bears.  Get the kids size next time, it is only $1.50 and it is the perfect size.  If you have a grown-up palate you don’t have to get gummy bears I promise but believe me it is really fun biting their heads off.

Billy’s family came into town today because we are having a joint Thanksgiving with both families.

When they are in town they take us out for most meals, they are foodies too!

Where did we go? Of course Cafe Rio.

Same salad as usual but I wasn’t very hungry after ice cream so I skipped the tortilla and just had grilled chicken, lettuce, cilantro and pico.

After dinner we went to the BYU Basketball game.  Half the game I was watching the 90 year old man in front of us eat his Cougar Tail (a 2 foot maple bar doughnut) he savored every last bit of that baby and no crumb was left behind.  You can also buy the Cougar Tail with a hot dog on the inside.  Good ol’ America.

Do you get along with your in-laws or boyfriend/girlfriends family? (I promise I won’t tell them if you don’t!)

-I am obsessed with my in-laws.  We were made for each other.  My mother-in-law is my favorite running buddy ever.

What dishes are you in charge of for Thanksgiving

-My mom put me in charge of the green salad.  I am pretty sure she just doesn’t want any of the important dishes screwed up.  I understand:)  She makes everything so much better anyway.

That is ridiculous that the instructor didn't show up! I would be so mad…
Your relationship with your mom sounds a lot like mine. That is completely something my mom would invite me to do.
Happy Thanksgiving! xoxo

and ick for lame-o spin teacher!

UGH – I was all ready for a Bikram class early this morning and the instructor didn't show. It makes me SO MAD when that happens. Luckily I ran over to my gym and got a good workout in.

I'm making everything for Thanksgiving – hooray! Have a great one :)

I really like my in-laws, but my husband and I are pretty sure that my mother-in-law is baffled by me. Apparently I have an odd sense of humor.

Oh, the in laws … I enjoy them more with a tall glass of wine than without.

In-laws used to be a HUGE problem but sadly one passed away. We will be visiting the remaining in-law on Turkey Day and we aren't responsible for any type of dish. I will bring candy and wind1

Eeeww 90 minutes on the elliptical? Sucks spin got canceled!

I have no in-laws yet, but my hopefully soon-to-be sister-in-law is awesome! I lucked out this year…no Thankgiving meal contribution, woo! People don't want you to touch their food after you just ran 13 miles, yay for me!!!

I love Dan's family and never had any issues with them in 6 years, up until recently (and it 1 was weekend). I think his mom is just upset we aren't married yet and she doesn't have any grandkids.

We started having Thanksgiving at my house 3 years ago, so I make everything but the turkey. Smoking meat is the only cooking I let Dan do ;-)

Haha – I hear you on the magazine thing! My mom renews my subscription to Cooking Light every year for Thanksgiving.

I adore my boyfriend's whole family! If they become my in-laws one day, I'd totally be okay with that! ;)

I really like my in-laws. It works out because we spend most holidays with them as they live 20 minutes away and my family lives halfway across the country. We are in charge of wine. :)

I have zero in laws right now, but I am still very close with my ex bf's family! When we broke my the first call was from his mom saying her son is a moron and when was I free for italian and a vat of wine. Nice!

in laws are a challenge. they are not healthy, nor do they really understand that we *try* to be. yes we are going there for t-day. always a challenge. especially when they all go out to smoke. i am getting away for a bit thursday morning to go run a 5k! hurray.

not my house, so i make no food.

I love my in-laws, couldn't ask for anyone better. That's so awesome that you run with your mother-in-law!

I'm in charge of the potatoes. I'm actually nervous I WILL mess them up.
Cooking is not my thing…at all. In fact, our oven has been broken for about 4 months and the only time we notice it is when we go to put a frozen pizza in it ;-)

My in laws are awesome! It's always a good thing when loving your family comes easy!

Your sorbet with gummies look fab! I love chewy candy!!

My hubby has a printed off schedule of events for our thanksgiving! We are celebrating early today, then with his family tomorrow!

I am "helping" with "Out of the World Stuffing" a recie by Bethenny Frankel. Love her!

Mmm I love gummies in my sorbet. Kind of weird in ice cream or yogurt, but sorbet is a surefire winner.

If my spin teacher canceled I'd be peesed off. Good news is, I've gone so much I've figured out how to go at it alone – but it's better with a group.

Going shopping with my mom today, hooray:)

Very blessed with great in-laws, I've heard horror stories!

I love Coldstone! Haven't been in way too long though. It's so creamy and delicious.

I'm thankful that I get along well with my inlaws. We aren't super close but I do like them and don't mind spending time with them.

I love 'em… but I have NOTHING in common with 'em.

Annnnd we already had our Thanksgiving (all the way up here in Canada) so I am free to read about all of yours all weekend! :-)

Hey girlie!!
this is my favorite thing to get at coldstone!!! I loveeeee frozzzen gummybears!
I'm always in charge of the veggie dishes! I hope you have a beautiful holiday with your family!!
xoxo!

I haven't been to coldstone in yrs, but know I totally want to go and get sorbet, I didn't even know they had that!

That sorbet looks awesome – I love coldstone! My in-laws are great, and I am so blessed to have such wonderful people in my life. My husband is the youngest of 7 kids, and 5 of his siblings have 2-3 kids each, so Thanksgiving is about 30 people. For their meal, I'm taking pecan pie. For my family, I am hosting this year (first time!). Husband is smoking a ham and 2 turkey breasts, and I am making roasted vegetables (carrots, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts), butternut squash casserole (very similar to sweet potato casserole but MUCH healthier), baked baby pears with goat cheese, herbs, pancetta, and honey. I am serving a pumpkin brownie pie for dessert from Angela at Oh She Glows.
Happy Turkey Day!

Don't the gummy bears get hard though??? :(

It's hit or miss with the inlaws. :) But they know that!

Reply

my kids would love your gummy bear concoction. i just can't go there!

for dinner this year, i'm making the rolls and pumpkin cheesecake (a first). wish me luck and i'll do the same for you and your salad!

Reply

Delish looking omelet! Enjoy your holiday!

I miss going shopping with my mom…always the best…she's the only one I like to shop with!

A donut with a hot dog in the middle? I might vomit in my mouth a little..

I did NOT like my exboyfriend's mom. I feared marrying him for that very reason. (It didn't work out for other reasons, however.)

Can I ask what type of marathon training plans you use? I'm looking for a new one…and you're about as speedy as I want to be, so I figured I'd ask what your secret is!

Reply

I do love my in-laws which is good because my husband family is huge and very close knit. I am in charge of the stuffing and the coconut cream pie.
